Why health and wellbeing practitioners are failing their clients… And how to serve them better…

Stress levels are high.

People are waking up like never before.

Health and wellbeing is on the rise.

And there’s never been a better time to teach modalities such as breathwork, meditation, dance and sound therapy.

But some practitioners are failing their clients.

Because whilst we’re willing to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of our hard-earned cash on learning how to teach these practices, we’re refusing to acknowledge the importance of music in our work.

It gets me all hot under the collar, but I understand why.

Music can seem ‘other’, ‘separate from’, ‘not integral’ to what we do.

It can feel ‘far away’, ‘off there’, ‘other-worldly’, when the core teachings of our practice take centre stage.

And if you’re a health and wellbeing practitioner, you might not have used music in your work before.

And the unknown is scary, dark, overwhelming.

So best not to look at it and leave it ‘over there’.

Right?

Wrong.

If we’re using music in our work, we have a responsibility to work with it well.

Breathwork, meditation, dance and sound therapy all use music. Even some yoga and massage do too.

It’s a tool for our tool box.

And you’re not going to pack an electric drill if you don’t know how to use it, are you?

That could lead to all kinds of trauma.

Which is what I come across in so many classes today.

Bad music. Bad mixing. Bad medicine.

Providing a sub-standard service to our clients.

Using all the wrong platforms – like Spotify, which is actually illegal.

Yeah, whether we’re aware of it or not, that electric drill is shedding blood.

It’s carnage.

Bust ups and bruises all over the place.

But it doesn’t have to be like that.

The first thing to do is acknowledge the problem.

Because working with music and pretending it doesn’t matter won’t cut it anymore.

Music on its own is healing.

Just listening to music can improve memory, boost brain power, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve pain, lower blood pressure, increase concentration and even help you sleep better.

When you bring music into your health and wellbeing practice, you supercharge your medicine.

If you use it correctly.

And using it correctly, isn’t difficult.

In fact, it’s super easy.

You just need to know the right things to use and how to use them.

And then you can give a session where your clients will go deeper into their healing.

And you’ll be in integrity, creativity and joy.

So, what are you waiting for?

Be part of the solution.

Up your skill set and bring more people to your practice.

It can only be good for the world.

And for you.
